My mind is always on. Ideas, lists, plans, doubts, and new inspirations tumble through my head all day long. Without structure, it would be utter chaos. So I try to maintain control.

Safe, sensible, and predictable. And exhausting.

Painting is where I can let all of that go for a while. Not everything has to be thought out or planned in advance. I love experimenting with different techniques, materials, and textures, and I let the painting develop as I go.

I draw my inspiration mainly from nature. Not by literally recreating it, but by the colors, shapes, textures, tranquility, and ruggedness you find within it. These often form the starting point of my work, after which intuition, experimentation, and feeling determine the rest.

That doesn't mean painting always comes easily. The tendency to want everything to be perfect and the doubt about whether something is good enough often paint along with me. But that's precisely why I keep returning to the canvas. Each piece helps me to let go a little more and to increasingly discover what my own style is.
